Insanity Day 2

Ouch. That's probably the best word to describe last night's Insanity workout. It was 40 minutes of pure pliometrics/cardio and let me tell you, it kicked my butt! Let me put it this way, I live in Arizona where it can get to be 120 degrees outside and even then, I barely sweat. Last night, I was actually sweating through my clothes! I just love how it feels afterward though....yes I'm tired, and yes I'm in pain, but honestly, it feels good. I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something and that's an amazing feeling! This morning I woke up in serious pain. Walking to the bathroom was a workout in itself...then came the stairs. That's where the "ouch" comes in. But honestly I'm loving this new "lifestyle," and I recommend it for sure!

For lunch yesterday, Kent and I had turkey sandwiches. We took a recipe in our nutritional guide and altered it a little. This is what we (or Kent actually) did:
3 slices of turkey bacon each
1 slice of reduced fat colby jack cheese each
A few slices of "toasted" turkey (Kent cooked them a little on a skillet to brown them up a little)
2 slices of whole wheat bread each

Basically Kent made the bacon on the stove and then cooked a few slices of turkey on the stove as well. We slapped those two things as well as some cheese on the bread and voila! It was delicious! Kent added a tomato to his and he said that made it taste even better!

For Dinner:
Box of whole wheat spaghetti noodles
2 small cans of tomato sauce (with our own seasonings)
Chopped chicken (Kent added herbs and spices to it)

*Keep in mind we made a huge pot so we could have leftovers, you probably won't need near as much if you are just cooking it for yourself*

Boil water.
Add noodles and cook until soft. DO NOT overcook or they can get mushy.
Heat up the sauce and add seasonings.
Cook chicken and add seasonings (Kent just added a dash of pretty much every herb he could find and it was really really good!)
Mix together!

I'll keep you updated with tonights workout and the food we eat today.

Oh and I'm still 112 pounds :-/

Insanity Day 1

Well we finished the first DVD which was a "Fit Test." Just like the name, it was INSANE! Honestly, I didn't think I was going to be able to finish the DVD so me and Kent cheated a little bit and paused the dvd for a few minutes longer before moving onto the next exercise. We both felt like throwing up and Kent actually did! I think it had a lot to do with the fact that yesterday we didn't eat so well because we hadn't officially started our "Insanity Diet." So, the heavy burgers and shakes we had for lunch probably didn't agree with what we were doing. We started the diet today though so hopefully things will be a lot better. Anyway, the guy, Shaun T, was very motivating which helped a lot. He tells you to "Dig Deeper," which usually motivated me to get a least one more exercise done. I'm in a little bit of pain today but it's more uncomfortable than anything. I think tonight is pliometrics (sp?) so I know we are going to be in a lot of pain tomorrow!

In case that you all care what we've been eating:
Today for breakfast we had:
"PROATMEAL"
2/3 cup cooked Oatmeal
1 scoop of protein powder (we chose chocolate flavored)
1/2 cup of freash or frozen berries (I chopped up fresh strawberries)
1-1/2 Tbsp. chopped walnuts (I didn't add these but I imagine it wouldn't taste bad)
Splash (1/4 cup) of skim, almond, rice, or soy milk

Combine ingredients.
Nutrition Breakdown:
307 calories
26 grams of protein
34 grams of carbohydrates
9 grams fat
9 grams fiber

It didn't taste too bad. A little bland but maybe adding the almonds would have helped. I would eat it again however.
I'll update this post with lunch and dinner later

Now for pictures. I honestly don't know why I'm posting these it's just going to embarrass me. I just want to be able to look back and see progress!

I'm not going to post all of my "stats" (mostly because they are sitting at Kent's house) but I WILL post my weight progress.
Starting weight: 112 pounds. Yikes.

Insanity!!!

Wow it's been a while. A lot has happened (at least it seems like it) but I'll update my blog about that later.

For now I'm going to talk about something different...INSANITY!!!!
For those of you who don't know what "Insanity" is, it's like p90x but more cardio based. It is supposed to be ridiculously insane...hence the name. Anyway it promises you a better body in 60 days. SOunds good right? Wellll I ordered it last Tuesday and it came yesterday! I plan on writing about my day to day experience with this program and documenting it on this blog...complete with pictures! I think it will be cool to look back and see my progress. Anyway, once Kent gets back from teaching Scouts we are going to start..I am pretty excited! Stay tuned for updates!!!
